Careers at Goodwill

You probably know about Goodwill’s retail stores! You may have shopped with us; you may have donated items to our stores. But do you know why we sell your donated items in our stores? We fund our programs through the sale of donated items. 88 cents of each dollar made goes directly to our programs.
We provide employment and training programs for people with special needs and barriers to employment; people with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities; people with barriers to employment such as limited work experience or education, few job skills or training, older workers, and people with criminal backgrounds.
Other programs include our Adult Foster Care and Community Based Day Services, as well as our relatively new Career Academy and our Resource Room. And our stores are social enterprises; people with disabilities and other barriers to employment work at our stores to learn important skills that can lead to further employment.
And by donating and shopping at Goodwill retail stores, you are helping us keep unwanted items out of local landfills. We reduce, reuse, and recycle and have been doing so since we first opened in 1925.
Finally, we want you to know that Goodwill Industries of the Pioneer Valley is one of 165 independent community-based Goodwill organizations that make up Goodwill Industries International (GII). And like all the other Goodwills, we are operated by a local staff and report to a local volunteer Board of Directors.
