Welcome to Goodwill Industries of the Springfield/Hartford Area, Inc. My name is Steven Mundahl, President & CEO.
Mission Statement
Goodwill’s mission is to create a better community through partnerships in employment, education and life enrichment.
Vision Statement
We at Goodwill Industries will be satisfied only when every person in our community has the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential and to participate and contribute fully in all aspects of life.
Core Values
· People must feel safe.
It is a basic right that all people we serve and all employees are safe from physical and/or emotional harm. To this end we continually work to create a more compassionate and caring environment for everyone involved with Goodwill.
· People must feel respected.
Our interactions must be honest and courteous. We need to remember to treat everyone as we would like to be treated.
· People must be treated with kindness.
We want all people connected with Goodwill to feel understood. We want Goodwill to be a place where their needs are met, and where thoughtfulness, consideration and patience are practiced in all interactions.
· People must be treated with dignity.
We want to ask and not assume. We want to ensure that people can maintain their self respect and know, through our interactions how much their lives matter.
· See the person first, not their disability.
We want everyone’s humanity acknowledged. Remember in each interaction that you are not dealing with a condition or a disability, but with a person who deserves to be treated as you wish your loved one to be treated.
· People must be supported to achieve the goals they choose.
We want people doing the things they want, not the things we think they need. To do this, we must ask the person what they want or need and not make assumptions.
· We must ensure that people who cannot care for themselves receive the best possible services.
When someone we serve does not have the capacity to care for themselves, we must ensure that they are treated with respect, that their dignity is maintained, that we continue to ask what they want or need. It is an honor to be considered the steward of another’s life, and with that honor, comes a great responsibility.
· We must provide all of our participants with the best possible services, working conditions, and support.
This includes making all reasonable accommodations.
· People are treated fairly.
We must not discriminate against anyone for any reason. Our interactions must be just and truthful.
